The Cloquet Area Fire District Board began the search for a District Fire Chief in late 2019. From the very beginning, we knew that the decision to hire a District Fire Chief would be critical to the District’s ongoing success and our vision to be the state leader in providing regional fire and emergency medical services.
The Cloquet Area Fire District is pleased to announce that Matthew Ashmore has accepted the position of District Fire Chief and will begin serving our community full-time on Monday, November 30th, 2020.
Chief Ashmore currently resides in Hibbing, MN with plans to move to the Cloquet Area. He is coming to us from the Hibbing Fire Department where he worked as a Battalion Chief/EMS Director. He is also co-owner and Chief Operating Officer of the Minnesota Public Safety Group LLC and works as an instructor in the paramedic program at the Mesabi Range Community & Technical College in Eveleth, MN. Chief Ashmore comes to us with 25 years of experience in the fire service, and brings a valuable amount of knowledge in fire and paramedicine.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation to Terch & Associates [Contracted Human Resources Consulting/Recruiting Company] for their excellent work as well as the Community Stakeholders and staff who participated in this process. Please join us in welcoming Chief Ashmore and his family to our community!
